John F. TurbenJack Turben founded Chagrin Valley Company, Ltd., Kirtland's predecessor firm, in 1977. Kirtland Capital has consistently followed a strategy of partnering with management teams to grow and add value to its portfolio companies.

From 1968 to 1974, Jack Turben served as Chairmen of the Executive Committee and Vice Chairmen of the Board of Prescott, Ball & Turben, an investment banking firm headquartered in Cleveland. Prior to founding Chagrin Valley, he was Chairmen of the Executive Committee and a Director of the Geneve Corp., a private equity firm founded to make control investments in middle-market manufacturing and service companies. Jack currently serves as a Director of NACCO Industries, Inc., Lake Erie College, MAGNET Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network and the President of the Board of Trustees of University School, former Chairmen of the Board of Trustees of University School, former Chairmen of the Board of Trustees of Lake Erie College, and is Mayor of Kirtland Hills, Ohio. Jack is a graduate of Yale University.
